The Memoirs

I have been at a bit of a standstill with work on my memoir- Jockstraps & Vicodin: The Early Years. Most of the manuscript is done, my dear readers have had a bit of a preview. But, I have insisted on color plates for the start of each chapter. My editor had sent along great pieces, just what I would have wanted... until today. Just one little spelling error, one small consonant added & the desired impression was just off the mark.  Damn that" L":

This chapter is about my 1st year of college, just 1 school year in Boston, but packed with action & anecdotes. Here is my 2nd choice for the plate:

Should I have them re-do #1 or just go with the 2nd choice? It says so much.

  5. O-h-h-h-h, I get it, now. So you're saying in the 1920s, they couldn't put slang terms like that on the cover of a book, so they used that "L" to sneak it past the public, knowing that some people would still get the hidden message. I guess that was the 'secret' in the title, huh?

This answers a lot of questions! Till now, I never knew what my grandmother meant when she used to refer to her brother that moved to San Franciso as an "odd clock" but thanks to you and Nancy Drew, I finally figured it out!
