O-h-h-h-h, I get it, now. So you're saying in the 1920s, they couldn't put slang terms like that on the cover of a book, so they used that "L" to sneak it past the public, knowing that some people would still get the hidden message. I guess that was the 'secret' in the title, huh?
ReplyDeleteThis answers a lot of questions! Till now, I never knew what my grandmother meant when she used to refer to her brother that moved to San Franciso as an "odd clock" but thanks to you and Nancy Drew, I finally figured it out!
i say have them fix the typo and use the second photo on the back of the book.
