Random Musings Of A Mid-20th Century Gay Man On The Memories, Experiences, People, Animals & Things That He Loves To See, Hear, Read, Feel, Smell & Imbibe
On his blog, he has a year by year list of every book he has read since 1968. How cool is that? I have loved his sweet, pure voice for 45+ years. Has there ever been a pop vocal to match the intensity & soaring heights of Bridge Over Troubled Waters? Art Garfunkel's recording of one of my top 5 all time favorite songs- The Waters Of March in 1975, led me on a lifelong obsession with this Antonio Carlos Jobim song, & I now collect different covers of it (I have over 20). His version was the 1st & still my favorite. I always have been moved by his rendition of this Jimmy Webb song:
I bruise you, you bruise me We both bruise too easily, too easily to let it show I love you & that's all I know .
All my plans have fallen through, All my plans depend on you, depend on you to help them grow, I love you & that's all I know.
When the singer's gone let the song go on... But the ending always comes at last, Endings always come too fast, They come too fast but they past too slow, I love you & that's all I know .
When the singer's gone let the song go on, It's a fine line between the darkness & the dawn. They say in the darkest night there's a light beyond
But the ending always comes at last, Endings always come too fast
They come too fast But they past too slow, I love you, & that's all I know. That's all I know, that's all I know.
*gasp* Me too! I love the whole album that contains this song, actually (Breakaway). I had never heard Waters of March before Garfunkel's release. Thanks for this clip, too, of another song that I really like.
I am a mid-20th century gay man still trying to get a handle on how to live life with meaning. I live in Portland Oregon with my husband/partner of 32+ years & the terriers: Lulu & Junior.
As an actor I have been in over 150 full stage productions, 12 films/TV, over 50 commercials & voice overs.
Our home & garden in Seattle (1981-2001) were published several times & were featured in a "coffee table" book- Flea Market Decorating by Meredith Press. That garden was on the Seattle Art Museum's Tour Of Artists' Gardens in 1999.
We moved to Portland in a fit of middle age anxiety in 2001.
We spend our time & money working on our house & garden in a working class bungalow, in a working class neighborhood.
